Still Catching Up on Being Back in GA!

While most UGA alums get excited about heading to Athens for the weekend, David and I were beyond excited. We haven't been there in over five years other than the fast drive in and out for football games. Mom and Dad were sweet enough to keep DM and Tahoe for DM's first slumber party in Flowery Branch so David and I could spend the weekend in Athens. It was fabulous (AND HOT)! Orientation was going on and so many nervous incoming freshman and incoming freshman parents were all around and a wedding party or two were staying at our hotel. So much excitement all around! And so many changes. Yes, Harry Bissett's really is no more.
Where David and I had our first date - East West Bistro.

The bench where David proposed.
I do not think there is any city in America that mirrors Athens - complete with a southern society under - make that over belly, amazing southern old homes, which David allowed me to tour and dream about owning yesterday, and an authentic cultural and environmental conscious. I have searched and searched for a way for David to get to work in a reasonable amount of time from Athens, but all maps point to weekend visits rather than Athens citizenship.

5 Months

Our little DM is already 5 months old!
Some of her favorite things:
1. Sucking her thumb
2. Sleeping
3. Swimming (at least Mom thinks so)
4. Kicking in her bouncy seat. We're getting worried she's going to launch herself out of it soon.
5. Her schedule
6. If a television is on in her presence, she will watch it. Urgh!
7. Putting stuff in her mouth
8. Baths
9. Resting her hand behind her head
10. Dancing
11. Grocery shopping
12. Runs and walks

Some of her least favorite things:
1. Cuddling. DM hated being swaddled as an infant and this trend seems to continue.
2. Mirrors - she could care less about looking at the baby in the mirror.
3. Being left in her carseat for too long - this only is an issue if we try to shop and go to dinner in the same day. Bad idea.
4. She'll only consider taking a pacifier now if she's really upset and can't calm down enough to get her thumb to her mouth.

Around here

David's brother Michael and his wife Kate came to meet DM. Kate was just here for a short time and we didn't get a picture of her, but Michael stuck around for the week to learn how calm life really is with a baby. In this picture, I think Michael looks so much like his father John did in pictures of John holding Michael and David when they were young.
Michael is trying to teach DM how to work a computer. I think she is getting the hang of electronic devices. She is constantly grabbing for my phone if I have it in my hands while I'm playing with her.

DM and I went to visit our friends Becky and Nate and Nate let DM borrow his Bumpo chair to work on her sitting up. Thanks, Nate!
