Our First Hair Cut

After putting off getting DM a hair cut for months, we had to do something.  I didn't want to go to a kiddo salon.  Her school does cuts, but I didn't want to miss her first hair cut.  I discovered a few weeks ago that her teacher could also cut hair.  Taadaah!  I had a plan.  We invited Ms. B over to cut her hair at our house.  Then, we had a friend want to join, so we moved our hair cutting party to his house because Ms. B lived closer to him. DM was so quiet the entire time, but she never cried.  I was so thrilled to have Ms. B cut her hair!

 Unfortunately, I apparently started talking and didn't get a picture of the final product, but DM's hair is looking MUCH better and adding layers definitely helped the curls.

The Most Precious Thanksgiving Dinner!

This is what happens when we put six families with six toddlers and four infants together for one Thanksgiving meal!  We had the MP families over for our Pre-Thanksgiving potluck.  It was so much fun but so much chaos!

 These two tried hard to be really good; they were like little ladies!

 This table only sat still for dessert, and with fun cupcakes like these, how could they not sit still to gobble them down?

The little ones slept right through it all!

We couldn't be more thankful for this group. Part of me wanting to move back to Atlanta was to be around more diverse families for DM, and this group has brought us just that and more love than we could ever ask for!

DM's First Game!

A few weeks ago, we started toying with the idea of taking DM to Athens for a game.  Then, we all got sick and put the idea on hold.  But I think David had already gotten so excited about the idea that we were going, no matter how sick any of us were.  In the spirit of being last minute about our decision to go, we didn't have DM a ticket and elected to just get one for her on the bridge prior to the game.  David walked around for a bit waiting on the prices to come down.  We decided to increase what we were willing to spend, as we knew pre-nap time was dwindling.  David walked away again on his ticket venture and came back with a lady to introduce to us.  As it turned out, as David went to offer her money to buy the ticket, he told her it was going to be for his daughter's first UGA game, and she told him he could have the ticket.  She just asked that we pay it forward one day.  What a blessing!

 Even though we were crazy late and would end up missing the Dog Walk, we stopped for a picture on the bench where David proposed to me.

 We finally found Mimi and Papa, who had been one of points of focus on the drive to keep the trip moving forward!  (Going to Athens w/ a kiddo in tow is a whole different drive from going without kiddo!)

 Not that focusing on smiling for the camera is ever DM's thing but it really wasn't this day.  She was quite amazed by the airplanes flying over and the students right in front of us with their bellies painted red and black spelling out GEORGIA!

 There was a lot to watch!

 But even with all to soak in, we could only last so long!  We headed out just before the end of the first half!

 We stopped to let DM pick the berries off the nandina on north campus while I attempted (and failed) to get some decent pictures.

 And we paused for more photo attempts by the Arch.

And we had no idea when we left Athens how much exciting football was left to come that we could watch from our cozy pillow fort at home!

Uncle Michael, Uncle Michael!

Uncle Michael came to town! We had so much fun! He stayed a weekend with us, traveled a bit for work and then wrapped up the week back with us. And of course, DM made sure Uncle Michael saw her true colors, good and bad!

We had a last minute change of plans and instead of the adults going to the UGA game, we all stayed home and watched the game on the porch!

No, our child does not typically eat dinner in front of a tv, but we were trying to make do with a new plan of staying home.  We broke a lot of rules that day!

Lucky for DM, Uncle Michael brought her a new book that entertained for a bit!



 Michael hadn't been to Atlanta in a while so we took him to two of our favorites, the zoo and the Varsity.  Yes, Michael went with us, but didn't make it in many photos as he was trying to take pictures, too!

Happy Halloween!

Our little cozy fish was quite the stinker for Halloween.  It was probably due to her being up half the night before, but nonetheless, we made do.  David had to wrangle her in for even a couple of pictures before we headed out.

 

 

We stopped off at the Southshore Gobble Stop to visit with Elizabeth, our favorite babysitter, and other friends, but boy, was DM ready to hit the streets for some candy!

 Once we conceded to a piece of candy, our grouchy fish livened up, at least until the sugar high ended!

 And that one little piece of sugar, a lollipop, cruised with us all the way.  Anyone who has spent any time with DM knows that she RELISHES every ounce of sugar she is given.   Once, after attending a baby shower, I took her to the park with a treat - the sugar cookie favor from the shower.  She spent an hour eating that cookie.  Not exaggerating!
